Instruction for Poster Presentation

A poster presentation consists of a visual display of research findings on a hardboard combined with question and answer session. The content should summarise information or research concisely, and attractively to help publicise it and generate discussion. It should be direct and focused. The poster should not be only a reproduction of the abstract you have submitted for the conference.

Size of Poster

The maximum size of the poster is A0 size, which is equivalent to 84 (width) x 119 (height) cm, presented in a portrait format.

Content of the Poster

  1. It should be readable at 2 metre, the minimum font size is 40 point
  2. It should have effective use of graphics, colour and fonts
  3. It should use of bullets, numbering, and headlines make it easy to read
  4. It should have consistent and clean layout
  5. It should include acknowledgements, authors name and affiliations.
  6. You may use the PowerPoint Poster template provided below.

Poster Presenter Guidelines

Poster Boards Location: The poster board is located on foyer of the conference venue.

Poster Sessions

There will be three (3) poster sessions, you will be informed of the timing of the poster on a later date.

The timing for poster is

  • Session 1: 10 Sept 2017 (Sun) at 1615-1645 hrs and on 11 Sept 2017 (Mon) at 1000–1030 hrs
  • Session 2: 11 Sept 2017 (Mon) at 1245-1345 hrs and on 12 Sept 2017 (Tue) at 1000–1030 hrs
  • Session 3: 12 Sept 2017 (Tue) at 1200-1300 hrs and on 12 Sept 2017 (Tue) at 1700–1730 hrs

Poster Set-up / Tear-down:

 

Posters must be set up, on the morning of the scheduled presentation day, and must remain on display all day, of scheduled presentation day. 

  • You are only allowed to mount your poster on the day it is scheduled to present
  • The poster board number will correspond with the pre-assigned number which will be provided at a later date.
  • All posters should be dismantled at the end of each scheduled presentation day

Presentation Period

  

Poster presenters will need to stand by their poster and be prepared to answer questions from attendees in a one-on-one format during the porter viewing period.

  • You will not need to give a formal presentation.
  • During the assigned poster session time, you MUST attend your poster for the entire time.
  • If you have more than one poster to present on the same day, it is your responsibility to identify a co-author to present as necessary.

 

Publication

  

  • You abstract will be published in the supplementary copy of the Medical Journal of Malaysia.
  • Requests for withdrawal of an abstract must be received in writing by Friday, August 10, 2017, to avoid publication.

Instruction for Oral Presentation

An oral presentation consists of a visual display of research findings in an electronic format over the projector. The content should summarise information or research concisely, and attractively to help publicise it and generate discussion. It should be direct and focused. The oral presentation should not be only a reproduction of the abstract you have submitted for the conference.

Presentation format

  1. You should prepare your presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint format or in a free form PDF format.
  2. The presentation slides should be in landscape format with 16:9 dimension
  3. You should only prepare the presentation with a maximum of 15 slides, including the title of the presentation. However, the ideal is 8 slides, giving you one minute per slide.
  4. The minimum font size is 16 points.
  5. It should have effective use of graphics, colour and fonts.
  6. It should use of bullets, numbering, and headlines make it easy to read.
  7. It should have consistent and clean layout.
  8. It should include acknowledgements, authors name and affiliations.

Oral Sessions

There will be eight (8) oral sessions.

The timing for oral presentation is

  • Session 1: 12 Sep 2017 (Tue) at 1430-1700 hrs
  • Session 2: 12 Sep 2017 (Tue) at 1430-1700 hrs
  • Session 3: 12 Sep 2017 (Tue) at 1430-1700 hrs
  • Session 4: 12 Sep 2017 (Tue) at 1430-1700 hrs
  • Session 5: 13 Sep 2017 (Wed) at 0800-0900 hrs
  • Session 6: 13 Sep 2017 (Wed) at 0800-0900 hrs
  • Session 7: 13 Sep 2017 (Wed) at 0800-0900 hrs
  • Session 8: 13 Sep 2017 (Wed) at 0800-0900 hrs

Duration of Presentation

  • The maximum time allocated for each oral presentation is eight (8) minutes, with additional two (2) minutes for discussion.
  • It is vitally important that all presenters stay on time and leave time for audience questions.
  • Presenters should rehearse their presentations in advance to make sure they are within the allotted time.
  • It is mandatory that you keep to your scheduled time, and the session Chairs will ask you to stop once you have reached your official time allocation.
