This is the 6th time that the College of Public Health Medicine is organising the Asia-Pacific Conference on Public Health. The 1st Asia Pacific Conference on Public Health with the theme “New Initiatives in Public Health” in 2004, 2nd Asia Pacific Conference on Public Health with the theme: “Emerging Treat in Public Health in 2007” was held at the Sheraton Subang Hotel and Towers, Subang, Malaysia and the 3rd Asia Pacific Conference on Public Health, with the theme “Translating Evidence into Public Health Action in 2011” was held from 14-15 November 2011 at Grand Dorsett, Subang, Malaysia.
The 4th Asia-Pacific Conference on Public Health 2015 in Kuantan, Malaysia from 7-9 September 2015. The theme of the conference was “Fostering Innovation in Tackling Double Burden of Disease” which highlighted the importance of innovation in advancing the health of the public, specifically, innovations that may reduce the burden of disease due to both communicable and non-communicable disease. There were three plenary, 34 symposia, 66 oral and 60 poster paper presented at the three days events. The abstract of the presented papers was published in a supplementary issue of the Malaysian Journal of Medicine.
The 5th Asia-Pacific Conference on Public Health was organised by the College of Public Health Medicine, Academy of Medicine Malaysia. The conference’s theme was “Realizing the Sustainable Development Goals Aspirations on Health”, which was related to the health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). It was held in the Riverside Majestic Hotel in Kuching Sarawak from 10-14 September 2017.
The 6th Asia-Pacific Conference on Public Health will be held in the Equatorial Hotel, Penang on the 22-25th July 2019. Plenaries, symposiums and pre-conference workshops organised will carry a theme of “Urbanization Challenges in Health“. Populations and communities around the world are exposed to various health risks related to urbanization. It is hopeful that through these activities, sharing and exchanging ideas and providing possible solutions, we could prepare ourselves for these challenges ahead.
